Stability Principle of Counterbalanced Pedestrian stacker
The stability principle of the counterbalanced pedestrian stacker is largely based on its unique design and construction.
Firstly, the core of the design of a counterbalanced forklift lies in its counterweight system. By placing a heavy weight (counterbalance) at the rear of the forklift, the centre of gravity of the forklift is shifted back, which increases the stability of the forklift during handling and stacking. The purpose of the counterbalance weight is to create a downward moment to counteract the moment created when the load is lifted, keeping the forklift balanced during operation.
Secondly, the stability of a counterbalanced pedestrian forklift also relies on its low centre of gravity design. By placing the rudder wheels below the load-bearing points, the centre of gravity of the forklift truck is shifted downwards, which further improves the stability of the forklift truck. The low centre of gravity can reduce the swaying of the forklift during driving and handling, especially when accelerating, braking or turning sharply, which can effectively prevent the forklift from tilting or overturning.
In addition, the stability of a counterbalanced pedestrian forklift is also affected by the contact between its tyres and the ground. The front wheels of the forklift truck are in contact with the ground at two points, as well as the hinge axle connection point, and the plane formed by these three points is the forklift truck's support plane. When the centre of gravity of the forklift truck is at or within the boundary of this stability zone, the truck will remain stable. If the centre of gravity exceeds this stability zone, the forklift may roll over.
To improve the stability of a forklift truck, there are also control measures that can be taken, such as a lateral stability control system. This system improves the stability of the forklift by controlling the combined centre of gravity of the forklift within the stabilisation zone, or by solidly connecting the body to the rear axle to extend the stabilisation zone.
